To throw one in, stand behind the waterfall and throw it in. She will do something for you after you throw things in 5 times in a row, 10 times in a row and 20 times in a row. Below is a list of what she'll do/give you.

If you throw 5 items in in a row into her pond and she'll give you a Power Berry

10 Items

If you throw 10 items in in a row into her pond and she'll ask you if you have a sweetheart. Answer yes and the girl that likes you the most will meet you at the hot springs.

20 Items

If you throw 20 items in in a row into her pond and she'll give you a Piece of Lumber that you can sell to Gotz to improve your friendship with him.
